Villa Park has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Gabrielino Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Villa Park had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 51-9 win over the Jackrabbits. Given Villa Park's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while Victor Valley is ranked 961st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Gabrielino entered their tilt with Simi Valley with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Gabrielino claimed a resounding 70-31 victory over Simi Valley at home.
Mia Lim continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 34 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Paris Ngeam, who scored 12 points along with five steals and two blocks.
Villa Park pushed their record up to 18-10 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Gabrielino, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.
Villa Park came up short against Gabrielino in their previous matchup back in December of 2014, falling 65-54. Thankfully for Villa Park, Amanda Lee (who scored 21 points along with five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
