After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bear River, the Wheatland Pirates were happy to have found some success on Friday. They secured a 38-34 W over Center. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Wheatland also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Wheatland found their leader in underclassman Michaela Davis, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Davis has scored at least a third of Wheatland's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Clancy, who scored six points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Center still got an impressive performance from Miessah Sagun, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. Madison Shirley Boudreaux was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 11 rebounds.
Wheatland's win bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Center, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12.
Wheatland will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Colfax at 7:00 p.m. Colfax will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak. As for Center, they will head out on the road to take on Bear River at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bear River presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Center in California (Bear River is ranked 285th, while Center is ranked 667th).
