Baseball Recap: Skipstone Academy Has No Trouble Against Trinity Christian School of Griffin

Skipstone Academy had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Trinity Christian School of Griffin on Thursday. The Warriors blew past the LIONS 14-4. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the LIONS recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Cody Collum made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Skipstone Academy is undefeated when Collum posts two or more runs, but 1-10 otherwise.

In other batting news, Kade Gregory was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Jace Wilson, who scored two runs and stole three bases.

Skipstone Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trinity Christian School of Griffin only posted an OBP of .346.

Skipstone Academy's record now sits at 4-10. As for Trinity Christian School of Griffin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-11.

Skipstone Academy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Scholars Guild Academy at 5:30 p.m. on the 15th. As for Trinity Christian School of Griffin, they will challenge Peoples Baptist Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
