GALA has been on the road for four straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the George Washington Prep Generals at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. GALA comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Last Friday, GALA was the victim of a tough 45-21 defeat at the hands of Fremont. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for GALA in their matchups with Fremont: they've now lost three in a row.
GALA got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Lauren Pang-Le and
Elissa Arnold, who each put up five points.
Meanwhile, George Washington Prep's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by King/Drew at home and fell 58-26. While losing is never fun, George Washington Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 418th, while King/Drew is ranked 89th).
GALA bumped their record down to 0-4 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for George Washington Prep, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.
GALA was taken down by George Washington Prep 76-12 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of George Washington Prep's Jay'la Ray, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. Now that GALA knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
