The Canton Warriors will square off against the Windsor Locks Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Canton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Canton turned things around against Stafford on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Bulldogs. Considering the Warriors have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Oden Berg was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. He has become a key player for Canton: the team is undefeated when he allows at most three earned runs, but 5-10 otherwise. Berg was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Canton let Wyatt Bernabucci and Nate Cowenhoven run wild. Bernabucci went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Cowenhoven got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Bernabucci a new career-high. Kyle Hiscox was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI and one run.
Canton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stafford only posted an OBP of .290.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Windsor Locks sidestepped Old Saybrook for a 6-5 win.
Noah Cartagena made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cartagena was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zavier Hunt, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Mason Silliman, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.
Windsor Locks' victory bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Canton, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.
Windsor Locks' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Canton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .369. It's a different story for Windsor Locks, though, as they've only averaged .218. Will they be able to contain Canton's hitters?
Everything went Canton's way against Windsor Locks in their previous meeting back in April, as Canton made off with a 21-8 victory. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
