The Eastern Greene Thunderbirds won the last time they faced the Clay City Eels, and things went their way on Thursday too. Eastern Greene came out on top against the Eels by a score of 35-27. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 17 to 6 on the offensive boards, as Eastern Greene did.
Leading Eastern Greene to victory were Mallorie Elliott and Bianca Wyatt. Elliott scored ten points, while Wyatt scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Wyatt is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Melanie Wyatt was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds.
Despite the loss, Clay City had strong showings from Megan Jackson, who scored eight points, and Kailyn Kirkling, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Eastern Greene's victory bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Clay City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-14.
Eastern Greene will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. South Knox has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 723 points over their last ten games. Clay City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
