Basketball Recap: Maywood CES Piles Up the Points Against Sotomayor

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Maywood CES on Wednesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Sotomayor Wolves out of the water with a 55-15 final score. The Wolfpack have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 26 points or more this season.

Maywood CES was led to victory by Carmen Lilly and Alyssa Maldonado. Lilly posted 21 points and five steals, while Maldonado scored 19 points and six boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lilly has scored at least a third of Maywood CES's points. Another player making a difference was Natia Alcaraz, who put up six points.

Maywood CES has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 17.7 points over those games. As for Sotomayor, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-9.

As of now, neither Maywood CES nor Sotomayor have any future games scheduled.
