University City is 2-7 against Lincoln since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The University City Centurions have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Lincoln Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully University City is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lincoln in California (University City is ranked 591st, while Lincoln is ranked 1187th).
Last Wednesday, University City's game was all tied up 17-17 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 36-27 victory over San Diego. The win was just what University City needed coming off of a 54-31 defeat in their prior contest.
University City's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chaya Scott, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Scott has scored at least a third of University City's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Jones, who scored four points along with 11 rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, sadly, Lincoln is still looking for their first win of the season after 21 matches. They were dealt a 61-21 defeat at the hands of Mira Mesa on Tuesday.
University City's victory bumped their record up to 13-11. As for Lincoln, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-21.
Everything came up roses for University City against Lincoln in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 47-10 victory. With University City ahead 24-2 at the half, the game was all but over already.
