The Aurora Huskies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight defeat. They received a tough blow as they fell 52-35 to Grand Island Central Catholic. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Aurora in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now lost seven in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Aurora lost, one person who can't be blamed is Denae Nachtigal. Despite the final result, she scored eight points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Addison Fahrnbruch, who scored eight points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grand Island Central Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carolyn Maser, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. Maser hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for eight straight games. Bryndal Moody was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Aurora's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Grand Island Central Catholic, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-1.
Aurora will head out on the road to square off against the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Waverly presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Huskies in Nebraska (the Vikings are ranked 16th, while the Huskies are ranked 119th). As for Grand Island Central Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bluehawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
