D'Evelyn is a perfect 10-0 against Green Mountain since September of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Jaguars will face off against the Rams at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It was a proper cat-fight when D'Evelyn took on Pomona on Tuesday. The Jaguars never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 14-0 win. The victory was nothing new for the Jaguars as they're now sitting on nine straight.
Nava Basquez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Lyla Nagy was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September. Valentina Lamas was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
D'Evelyn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in seven consecutive contests.
Green Mountain came out on top against Pomona on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive 14-run first inning. The Rams put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 16-1 win. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by exactly 15 runs.
Like D'Evelyn, Green Mountain also got a great game from a two-way player: Jenna Neuenschwander. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Neuenschwander was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Green Mountain got a massive performance out of Kyla Erickson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Linnea Iversen, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
D'Evelyn's record now sits at 18-3. As for Green Mountain, their record is now 12-8.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. D'Evelyn hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .453. However, it's not like Green Mountain struggles in that department as they've averaged .418. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
D'Evelyn took their victory against Green Mountain in their previous matchup back in September by a conclusive 11-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jaguars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
