Ricky Gonzalez made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. University Prep's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Boron, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-1 record.
University Prep will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Excelsior Charter at 3:15 p.m. on April 1st. As for Boron, they will challenge California City at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
