After a string of six wins, the Surry Central Golden Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 46-45 to North Wilkes. Surry Central was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as North Wilkes apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played last Thursday.
When it comes to explaining why Surry Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ayden Wilmoth. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Wilmoth is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Tripp Mcmillen was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Surry Central's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-5. As for North Wilkes, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Surry Central will take on North Surry at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Surry Central is coming into the game with seven straight losses at home, meaning North Surry will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. North Wilkes will take on Forbush at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Wilkes is facing Forbush at the right time seeing as Forbush is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
