The Poetry Community Christian Pioneer are on the road again on Friday and play against the Garland Christian Academy Swordsmen at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 66-23, which was the final score in Poetry Community Christian's tilt against Yavneh Academy last Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Poetry Community Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1394th, while Yavneh Academy is ranked 631st).
Daniel McClure put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored ten points.
Garland Christian Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 42 points or more this season. They blew past Lakewood Presbyterian, posting a 87-26 victory at home. Garland Christian Academy's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Caden Sandlin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 34 points and 11 steals. The matchup was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. Aiden Tiet was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with eight assists and five rebounds.
Poetry Community Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Garland Christian Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.
Poetry Community Christian was dealt a bruising 56-23 loss at the hands of Garland Christian Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Poetry Community Christian, Dayton Smith (who scored 16 points along with six rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
