The Willows Honkers will challenge the Mt. Shasta Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Willows' last matchup with Winters could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Friday. The Honkers lost 9-0 to the Warriors. The Honkers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Willows saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Gleason, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double.
13 must be Mt. Shasta's lucky number: they beat Fall River with that score not once but twice on Friday. The Bears were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Bulldogs. Considering the Bears have won ten contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
BEN KENNEDY made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Mt. Shasta: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-10 otherwise.
In other batting news, Mt. Shasta got a big performance out of Leo Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs Martinez has posted since back in May of 2025. Hank Johnson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Mt. Shasta kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive games.
Mt. Shasta's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-10. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Willows, their loss dropped their record down to 9-14.
Willows suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Mt. Shasta in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Honkers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
