Baseball Recap: Apple Valley Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Apple Valley entered their tilt with Serrano on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Diamondbacks with a sharp 12-1 victory. Considering the Sun Devils have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Christopher Alvarez was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ethyn Doyle, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Homer Wayde Munson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Apple Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Apple Valley pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Serrano, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Apple Valley will have a chance to go back-to-back against Serrano: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
