The Allentown Central Catholic Vikings were the 46-21 winner over Marian Catholic when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Allentown Central Catholic took a 54-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Marian Catholic on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Allentown Central Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 228th, while Marian Catholic is ranked 97th).
Carly Minchhoff continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Marian Catholic, scoring 22 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for her. Aliya Tikhtova was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Allentown Central Catholic has fallen quite a ways from their 22-4 record last season and are now at 2-4. As for Marian Catholic, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Allentown Central Catholic will be playing at home against Pleasant Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pleasant Valley comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Marian Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against Lincoln Leadership Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln Leadership Academy will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
