The Avalon Lancers couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were dealt a 44-10 defeat at the hands of Segerstrom on Saturday. Avalon was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-2.
Faith Ledesma was her usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with 4 steals and 3 blocks for Segerstrom. Ledesma is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Stephanie Valenciano was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
Avalon's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Segerstrom, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avalon will take on Newport Christian at 5:00 p.m. on December 11th. As for Segerstrom, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Los Amigos at 6:30 p.m. Los Amigos will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 482nd, while Segerstrom is ranked 139th).
