It was a good run, but the Mission College Prep Royals unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 44-36 to Cabrillo. If Mission College Prep was looking for revenge after losing 37-35 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Mission College Prep's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makanani Guy, who scored seven points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Keahi Guy, who scored nine points along with five assists and four steals.
Cabrillo's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Angeliyah Gonzalez, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Rylie Jenkins was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven assists and two steals.
Mission College Prep's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-8. As for Cabrillo, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which somehow isn't as good as their 16-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mission College Prep will take on the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. San Luis Obispo will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 395th, while the Royals are ranked 188th). As for Cabrillo, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Morro Bay will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
