It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but St. Vincent de Paul ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past the Sonoma Academy Coyotes 3-2. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Cameron Boutilier made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Boutilier was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

Boutilier wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Will Hankins, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs Hankins has posted since back in April of 2024. Another was Harrison Barley, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

The victory got St. Vincent de Paul back to even at 2-2. As for Sonoma Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, St. Vincent de Paul will face off against Analy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Analy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something St. Vincent de Paul will no doubt try to take advantage of. Sonoma Academy will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Credo at 4:00 p.m. on April 1st.
