Baseball Recap: Arcadia Has No Trouble Against West

Arcadia lost to West back in March of 2016, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Apaches put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 9-2 win. The Apaches might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Tyler Swilling looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Matt Manzo was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Soto, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.

Arcadia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West only posted a batting average of .192.

The victory made it two in a row for Arcadia and bumps their season record up to 15-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 3-12 Glendale and 5-9 West. As for West, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Arcadia will square off against Glendale at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Nitros have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.2 runs per game on average), something the Apaches will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for West, they will take on Peninsula at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
