Alameda dropped down to 6-5 on Monday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 19-2 to the Arvada Bulldogs. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Pirates couldn't push the score so high this time.
Katelyn Nault made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Yaretzi Lopez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Arvada, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1. Considering they have won five games by more than 14 runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
On Arvada's side, Alyssa Moreno made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Moreno was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abby Lopez, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Amaya Krantz was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Coming up, Alameda will face off against Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lancers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 21 runs per game on average), something the Pirates will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Arvada, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Fort Lupton at 4:30 p.m.
