The Tolar Rattlers will head out to take on the Brady Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
On Friday, Tolar came up short against Clifton and fell 22-13.
Although Tolar took the loss, they still got scores from Noah Boulanger and Kelvin Murray.
Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 2.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Nolan Cauble for the heroic effort on defense: he. Tolar's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.3.
Meanwhile, Brady had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 44 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Longhorns, sneaking past 17-15. Those 17 points were actually the fewest the Bulldogs have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Tolar better keep an eye on Ashton Taylor. He was instrumental in Brady's win, rushing for 205 yards and one TD while picking up 8.2 yards per carry, and also picking up 53 receiving yards. Taylor's longest rush was for an incredible 78 yards.
Brady's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Johnny Roque, Demarcus Reed, and Nasir Menefield, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Brady's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Tolar, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Tolar has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 149.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Brady struggles in that department as they've been averaging 357.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything went Tolar's way against Brady in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as Tolar made off with a 42-21 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Bulldogs' Sean Jacoby, who threw for 140 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Rattlers still be able to contain Jacoby? There's only one way to find out.
