The Mingo Central Miners will head out on the road to challenge the Lincoln County Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Mingo Central is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, Mingo Central humbled Tug Valley with a 74-43 victory.
Mingo Central relied on the efforts of Dalaney Grimmett, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds and four steals, and Addie Smith, who scored 37 points along with six assists. That makes it six consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least a third of Mingo Central's points.
Meanwhile, Lincoln County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They fell just short of Grace Christian by a score of 38-36.
Mingo Central's victory bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Lincoln County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.
Mingo Central strolled past Lincoln County in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 56-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mingo Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
