The Conemaugh Township Indians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 60-32 defeat at the hands of United. While losing is never fun, Conemaugh Township can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 474th, while United is ranked 102nd).
Conemaugh Township's loss came despite strong showings from Ava Byer and Katrina Mccann. Byer scored ten points along with five rebounds, while Mccann scored ten points along with eight rebounds. Byer also grabbed two steals for the first time this season.
United got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ashley Donelson out in front who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 0 assists. That's the first time this season that Donelson scored 15 or more points. Delaney Perrone was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 15 rebounds and five blocks.
Conemaugh Township's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for United, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Conemaugh Township will head out on the road to face off against Cambria Heights at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for United, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Portage at 7:15 p.m. Portage is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
