The Chestnut Ridge Lions were the 48-34 winner over the Mountain Ridge Miners when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Chestnut Ridge fell 49-41 to the Miners on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Chestnut Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 251st in Pennsylvania, while the Miners are ranked 43rd in Maryland).
When it comes to explaining why Chestnut Ridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ashlie Weaver. Despite the final result, she scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Hillegass, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Chestnut Ridge now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Mountain Ridge, they pushed their record up to 15-3 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chestnut Ridge will take on the Bald Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
