The nation's newly chosen preseason No. 1 high school football squad continues to bolster its roster.
Kamari Wilson announced Tuesday he is transferring from Westwood (Fort Pierce, Fla.) to
IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.). The nation's top-ranked safety from the Class of 2022, according to 247Sports, strenghtens the lineup for the No. 1 team in the MaxPreps preseason Top 25 rankings released Monday.
Wilson told 247Sports he loves his Westwood teammates, but called the move to IMG a "business decision." He had 114 tackles and five interceptions as a sophomore.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound incoming junior already has 30 college offers, and appears to be leaning toward many top programs, including LSU, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Clemson and Texas.
He's the No. 34 recruit overall from his class and joins a big list of notable transfers for the Ascenders during the offseason that includes linebacker
Xavian Sorey, quarterback
J.J. McCarthy, safety
Myles Rowser and wide receivers
Shawn Miller and
Samuel Mbake. All are high 4-star recruits except McCarthy, who owns a 5-star rating and is the No. 14 recruit overall from the Class of 2021.
On Wednesday, the Ascenders also received word that highly touted 2023 quarterback
Jaden Rashada will transfer to the Florida campus from Liberty (Brentwood, Calif.). A short time after Rashada tweeted out his intentions, it was reported that Liberty coach Ryan Partridge has stepped down to coach at Ferris State University. Liberty won a 2018 state title.

IMG Academy carries the flag as No. 1 team in the country heading into the 2020 football season.
