Apple Valley and Sultana are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2023, but likely not for long. The Sun Devils are taking a road trip to challenge the Sultans at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Apple Valley is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
On Friday, Apple Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Burroughs and fell 2-1.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Sultana, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against Hesperia by a score of 11-7 on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Sultans considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Ethyn Doyle was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up five earned runs off only one hit. Doyle was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Isac Gamez was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2025. Elijah Alvarez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Sultana was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Sultana has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Apple Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11.
Apple Valley skirted past Sultana 8-7 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sun Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
