Joziah Agredano was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Carson is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 0-8 otherwise. Agredano was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other pitching news, Carson got a great performance from Josiah Ripley as he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Xavier Allen, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Nate Ruan was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Rancho Dominguez had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Tarbabes. While the Lobos didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Rancho Dominguez's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Carson, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-9.
Everything went Carson's way against Rancho Dominguez when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Carson made off with a 12-0 victory. Will Carson repeat their success, or does Rancho Dominguez has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
