The St. Joseph Knights will take on the San Luis Obispo Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. St. Joseph will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
St. Joseph came out on top against Mission College Prep on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run seventh inning. The Knights took their contest against the Royals 8-3.
Niko Peinado made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Peinado was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run.

In other batting news, Erik Furness and Ashton Bluem did most of the damage at the plate: Furness went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI, while Bluem went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave Furness a new career-high. Dom Hernandez was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.
St. Joseph kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mission College Prep only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for San Luis Obispo's offense. They came up short against Paso Robles on Thursday, falling 7-0. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
San Luis Obispo saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Finn Hickey, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.
St. Joseph's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for San Luis Obispo, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
Everything went St. Joseph's way against San Luis Obispo in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as St. Joseph made off with a 9-2 victory. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
