After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Yucca Valley, the West Vikings were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 52-38 win over East Bakersfield. West pushed the score to 40-17 by the end of the third, a deficit the Blades cut but never quite recovered from.
Caleigh Adams continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of West's points. Mikayla Villalobos was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Despite the loss, East Bakersfield saw an underclassman step up: Angie Garcia almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Garcia has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Samantha Vasquez, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
West's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for East Bakersfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West will take on the Stars at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for East Bakersfield, they will head out on the road to take on the Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
