The Santiago Cavaliers just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Tustin Tillers at 5:00 p.m. on December 21st. Santiago is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
Santiago's 18-8 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell just short of Temple City by a score of 42-39.
Tustin has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 23 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Bellflower on Monday as Tustin made off with a 55-31 victory. Given Tustin's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 528th, while Bellflower is ranked 1153rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Santiago's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.3 points per game. As for Tustin, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
Santiago couldn't quite finish off Tustin in their previous meeting back in December of 2021 and fell 42-40. Can Santiago avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
