Rancho Mirage has gone a perfect 10-0 against Palm Springs recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Rattlers will look to defend their home field against the Indians at 6:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Rancho Mirage's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Palm Springs has been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road.
On Friday, Rancho Mirage had just enough and edged out Shadow Hills 6-4.
Marcos Ceja Jr. was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Ceja Jr. was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Zachary Berntsen looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Kobee Finnikin, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jesus Gutierrez, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Palm Springs lost 14-1 to Palm Desert on Friday.
Palm Springs saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ian Ernesto Arroyo, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Rancho Mirage has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.1 runs over those games. As for Palm Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 8-19.
Everything went Rancho Mirage's way against Palm Springs when the teams last played last Friday, as Rancho Mirage made off with a 12-5 victory. Do the Rattlers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
