Atwater is 9-1 against El Capitan since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Atwater Falcons will take on the El Capitan Gauchos at 7:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

El Capitan will be up against a hot Atwater team: the squad just extended their winning streak to nine. Atwater really took it to Golden Valley for the full four quarters, racking up a 77-17 victory. The Falcons pushed the score to 60-17 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cougars had no chance of recovering from.

Karissa Hukill was her usual excellent self, going 7 of 11 en route to 19 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Villa, who went 7 for 10 on her way to 14 points and seven boards.

Atwater smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 25 consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask El Capitan). They blew past Buhach Colony 90-10 on Tuesday. The win was nothing new for the Gauchos as they're now sitting on four straight.

El Capitan's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-4. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.4 points per game. As for Atwater, their record is now 21-4.

Everything came up roses for Atwater against El Capitan when the teams last played back in January, as the team secured a 73-43 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Atwater since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
