There's no place like home for the Miramonte Matadors, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against Dougherty Valley by a score of 53-42 on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Miramonte also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Miramonte can attribute much of their success to Julia Quinn Ferguson, who scored 14 points along with 8 steals and 6 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Karena Eberts, who scored 13 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
When it comes to explaining why Dougherty Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mikala Caston. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Caston scored a full 42.9% of Dougherty Valley's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Samaira Bakshi was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Dougherty Valley struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Miramonte racked up 12.
Miramonte now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Dougherty Valley, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Miramonte won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Heritage at 8:00 p.m. on December 1st. Hopefully Heritage focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Thursday.
