The Silverado Skyhawks are taking a road trip to face off against the Sunrise Mountain Miners at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Silverado knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Sunrise Mountain likes a good challenge.
On Friday, Silverado earned a 53-42 victory over Mater Academy East Las Vegas.

Silverado can attribute much of their success to Dillon Elliott, who rushed for 124 yards and two TDs on only ten carries, and Armani Combs, who gained 262 total yards and three touchdowns. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 50 yards. Silverado also got help from Jersiah Eva, who showed off his sure hands for 119 receiving yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Silverado was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 369 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mater Academy East Las Vegas only rushed for 105.
Silverado's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out James Monaghan IV six times. The heavy lifting was done by Brandon Belyeu and Roman Carrizales, who racked up five sacks between them. Belyeu is on a roll when it comes to sacks, as he's now posted at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, Sunrise Mountain fell victim to Eldorado and their airtight defense on Friday. They came up short against the Firehawks, falling 25-0. Having soared to a lofty 34 points in the game before, the Miners' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Silverado's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Sunrise Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Silverado has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 411.7 total yards per game. It's a different story for Sunrise Mountain, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 247.4 total yards. Will Silverado be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Miners flip the script?
Everything came up roses for Silverado against Sunrise Mountain in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, as the squad secured a 63-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Skyhawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
