The Highlands Golden Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Greensburg Salem Golden Lions at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. Highlands will be strutting in after a victory while the Golden Lions will be coming in after a loss.
Highlands can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent game on Thursday. They breezed by Derry at home to the tune of 64-24. Given Highlands' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while the Trojans are ranked 548th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Greensburg Salem has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 43-33 to Knoch on Thursday.
Despite their defeat, Greensburg Salem saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ashlan Price, who scored 11 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Sophie Bekerleg, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Highlands has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Greensburg Salem, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-6 record this season.
Highlands beat the Golden Lions 54-47 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Highlands since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
