The King City Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Notre Dame Spirits at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. King City has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Tuesday, King City was fully in charge, breezing past Marina 46-17 at home.
King City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Malaya Carrillo, who scored 18 points along with four steals. Carrillo has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Amity Hearne, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame entered their tilt with Pajaro Valley with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Notre Dame snuck past Pajaro Valley with a 42-36 victory on Tuesday.
Aveena Ducusin was her usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aalyssah HuiHui-Martinez, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
King City's record is now 8-15. Notre Dame's record is now 13-10.
King City won a contest that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in January, slipping by Notre Dame 54-53. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Ducusin, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine steals. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will King City still be able to contain Ducusin? There's only one way to find out.
