Despite the defeat, Western Christian saw an underclassman step up: Hannah Yamamoto scored ten points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Yamamoto has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Avalon lost to San Gabriel Academy at home by a decisive 45-30 margin on Monday.
Western Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season. As for Avalon, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-9.
Western Christian couldn't quite finish off Avalon in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 and fell 41-39. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Avalon's Xemina Moreno, who scored 14 points along with seven steals.
