St. Michael-Albertville (Albertville, Minn.) will rue a missed two-point conversation against
Rogers (Minn.), as provided the difference in a 38-37 defeat.
After trailing 14-10 at the half, the Knights went ahead on a field goal by
Isaac Aanerud with under a minute left in the fourth. Rogers finally took the lead for good when
Jake Owens ran for a touchdown with 11:00 remaining in the fifth quarter.
By the end of the third, RHS found itself trailing by 10 points as St. Michael-Albertville captured the lead thanks to two scores in the quarter. SMA scored on a
Valentino Faulkner touchdown run and a touchdown run by
Noah Evans in the quarter.
The Albertville school came in surrendering 8.6 points per game this season.
The defeat comes as a step back for St. Michael-Albertville, who notched a 31-6 victory over Cambridge-Isanti in its previous outing.
