Vaughn hasn't had much luck against Monroe recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The White Tigers will look to defend their home field against the Vikings at 2:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Vaughn comes in on three and Monroe on 11.
On Friday, Vaughn got the win against Grant by a conclusive 11-1.
Bryant Gamez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits.
Meanwhile, Monroe made easy work of Van Nuys on Friday and carried off a 14-2 win. Considering the Vikings have won eight games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Luis Martinez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Martinez was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Monroe got a massive performance out of Felipe Gonzalez III, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Jeramiah Vicuna was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Monroe was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Van Nuys only posted a batting average of .143.
Monroe's victory bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Vaughn, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
