Baseball Recap: St. Anne-Pacelli Comes Up Short

St. Anne-Pacelli was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 13-11 heartbreaker at the hands of the Westfield School Hornets. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Connor Zittrauer made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Braden Hudson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Even though they lost, St. Anne-Pacelli kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

St. Anne-Pacelli's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Westfield School, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season.

While St. Anne-Pacelli had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
