The King City Wildkats''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by Albany 62-12. The game was over by the end of the first half, with no points scored by either team from that point forward.
Despite the loss, King City saw an underclassman step up: Ryder Sample picked up 96 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Albany's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chase Cline, who threw for 148 yards and four touchdowns on only nine passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Quentin Hurkman, who rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
King City's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.2 points per game. As for Albany, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
King City will head out on the road to face off against Stanberry at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Albany does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
