Basketball Recap: Don Lugo Takes a Loss

Don Lugo won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They had to suffer through a 48-15 loss at the hands of the Apple Valley Sun Devils. The match marked the Conquistadores' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Don Lugo's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was London Salmon, who posted seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Hodges, who scored five points.

It was another big night for Elizabeth Searls, who went 8 of 18 on her way to 22 points and four steals for Apple Valley. Searls is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Isabelle Cornejo, who had five points and seven rebounds.

With the loss, Don Lugo broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-3. As for Apple Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Don Lugo wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 34-19 win against Azusa on the 7th. As for Apple Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 40-30 defeat against Polytechnic on the 7th.
