The Gridley Bulldogs lost against the Orland Trojans back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Gridley took a 51-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Orland. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Gridley in their matchups with Orland: they've now lost six in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Gridley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brook Marr. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 29 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 63% of Gridley's points, marking the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was AnaGloria Luevano, who scored seven points along with five steals and three blocks.
Orland found their leader in underclassman Lillianna Rowe, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Rowe has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Abigail Halsey was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five steals.
Gridley's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-10. As for Orland, their win bumped their record up to 8-13.
Gridley will be playing at home against Oroville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Oroville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday. Orland will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Las Plumas at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Las Plumas focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 last Tuesday.
