Softball Recap: Mccluer North Has No Trouble Against Normandy

McCluer North came out on top against Normandy on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive 14-run first inning. The Stars were the clear victors by a 20-5 margin over the Vikings. The win continues a trend for the Stars in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won five in a row.

Amya Adams made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Adams was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, McCluer North got a massive performance out of Marayah Taylor, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Tori Boyd also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

McCluer North always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

McCluer North's record is now 9-1. As for Normandy, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, McCluer North will welcome University City at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Normandy, they will head out on the road to square off against Hazelwood East at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
