The Monticello Magic pushed their score all the way to 63 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Hermantown on the road by a decisive 80-63 margin.
Monticello lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jackson Soroko, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds. The contest was Soroko's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Patrick Shobe, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Monticello's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Hermantown, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monticello will challenge Sauk Rapids-Rice at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Sauk Rapids-Rice's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Hermantown is on the road again on Friday and play against Rock Ridge co-op [Eveleth-Gilbert/Virginia] at 7:15 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
