Immanuel extended their losing streak to eight on Thursday, dropping them down to 11-11. They came up short against the Reedley Pirates, falling 9-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered against the Pirates since May 7, 2024.
Titus Young put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Young was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run.
Young wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jax Davidson, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base.
As for Reedley, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games.
Like Immanuel, Reedley also got a great game from a two-way player: Austin Rodriguez. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Rodriguez was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.
In other pitching news, Kevin Loredo looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Josh Lopez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
Looking ahead, Immanuel will challenge Trinity Classical Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Reedley, they will face off against Selma at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
