Baseball Recap: Point Loma Has No Trouble Against Bonita Vista

Point Loma barely beat Bonita Vista the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Point Loma Pointers blew past the Bonita Vista Barons 9-1 on Monday. That's more bragging rights for the Pointers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Phoenix Brant made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Brant was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Branden Keeling was excellent, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Caden Williams, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Point Loma and bumps their season record up to 3-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9 runs. As for Bonita Vista, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coming up, Point Loma will head out to square off against Helix at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Helix 3.8, Point Loma 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Bonita Vista, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Patrick Henry at 4:00 p.m. Patrick Henry's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Bonita Vista's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
