Trevor Lawrence, ranked the No. 2 recruit overall in the country, broke another state record previously held by current Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson during the regular-season ending game Friday against Troup.
Lawrence just threw his second touchdown of the game in the third quarter, giving him 156 for his career, breaking the Georgia mark of 155 set by Watson. It came on a 20-yard pass to
J'Kobe Orr.
Two weeks ago, Lawrence threw for 283 yards in the first half of a 62-0 win over Chapel Hill (Douglasville), giving him 13,260 for his career which broke the previous state mark of 13,077 set by Watson.
Entering Friday's game, the Clemson-bound Lawrence had completed 804 of 1,263 career passes for 13,260 yards, 154 touchdowns and 21 interceptions.
Cartersville entered Friday 9-0, riding a 39-game win streak, which ranks sixth currently in the country.
