Serra has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Mary Star of the Sea Stars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Serra suffered their biggest loss since December 21, 2023 on Thursday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 46-24 walloping at the hands of St. Monica. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Serra has scored all season.
The losing side was boosted by Kaylah Holmes, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and four steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Kaicia Snelson was another key contributor, scoring four points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Mary Star of the Sea's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their eighth straight loss. They were outmatched by Bishop Conaty-Loretto on the road and fell 61-23.
Serra's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 10-12. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.3 points per game. As for Mary Star of the Sea, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.
Everything came up roses for Serra against Mary Star of the Sea when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 70-35 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Serra since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
